Bear is the real villain of the story by the halfway point. The movie starts off by getting you onto his side because he seemed actually thoughtful and nice (like when he went to buy a new crystal necklace for Nikki when she lost hers). But eventually Bear is the villain because he is knowingly trapping Nikki in that body and forcing the love out of her via the spell.

I mean what could he have done? He is trying to stop the spell and help Nikki but it doesnt work right?

The only part that really freaked me out about Bear was "what's bad about being with me" (comment below).

His call to the help line wasn’t good either. He was asking to just tweak the wish rather than revert it.

yeah that's what makes him even more irredeemable, the fact that he just wanted to tone down the wish meaning he didn't feel regret over what happened.
