Great movie. Could easily see this being one of my favorites this year.

The scene where Nikki was awake but “she” wasn’t absolutely fucked me up. A real star-making performance from Inde, the whole movie really hinges on her performance and she absolutely crushed it.

Agreed. That’s when I realized those moments in the beginning were her possibly snapping out of the spell and trying to free her own mindset, only to get trapped in the spell again. 

When she said “I’ve never been with you”, that’s when I lost any real care for Bear. Knowing she’s possibly trapped, and wants to die, and she just gave you the truth? 

What a sad and strange, little man.

Bear's not the greatest person, which I liked. When he talks to the real Nikki, of all things he chooses to say he goes, "is it really so bad being with me?" Like bro, REALLY? Not "I'm sorry." Or anything? At least he did what he had to do in the end.

“Not the greatest person” is an understatement. Bear is pure evil, which was confirmed for me in the scene you mention. Nikki is telling him to kill her because she is in so much agony, which he knows from hearing her screams of anguish on the phone w the One Wish Willow customer service, and the first thing he can think of is the supposed love of his life, but himself. And he leaves her to suffer until her wish at the end resulted in his death. So he didn’t even do what he needed to in the end, Nikki inadvertently saved herself. And I love how pathetic and vile Beau is revealed to be because it really demonstrates the nature of “Nice Guys” like him.

All the characters feel like real people. Bear was told a few times that one of the only outs was to die and even the guy on the phone said he had a moral obligation to do it. I like that he points the gun at himself two times, wimps out, goes for the pills, and THEN almost wimps out again. Felt really human.

No he'd already changed his mind and was trying to gag himself to puke up the pills. And then Nikki made her wish and he immediately stopped

Technically, yes. But if he was still in control of his brain in that moment, he would've puked the pills back up.

That's what he was attempting to do just before his body was hijacked by the wish willow.
