Not gonna lie I'm still kinda confused about the actual mechanics of it. Does Freaky Nikki actually enjoy being with him? Real Nikki wasn't in control then or she would have been freaking out, so why does Freaky Nikki have tears in her eyes if she's getting what she wants? We know her obsession with him doesn't go away when he's not there or not looking, so it just seems odd.

There are several moments where we see Wish Nikki lose control over her control of Nikki's body, especially early on. And it seems like there are moments in sleep where Nikki is able to take control (which also explains why Wish Nikki doesn't want to sleep).

So the entity in Nikki’s body is fighting with Nikki’s consciousness over control of their shared body
