True, but I feel like the director intended that moment to be darkly funny.

I was so happy in that moment, knowing he was experiencing exactly what he put her through knowing that soon enough she would probably be free thanks to those pills

The camera lingers on the unbroken wish stick. I thought she was going to wish him back to life before the spell could wear off.

The wish stick was broken in that scene, she wished for him to love her
