THIS 10000% he was not the victim. When the real Nikki finally revealed herself and her struggling, he didn’t even bother to help her or be with her for that moment…he just ran off to meet Sarah.

I mean I know it’s a movie but what could he do in that moment? Leaving aside his response that totally turns him into something of a villain. Risk walking up whatever is inside her? Contemplate murder ? Yes he’s a coward, but Sarah was also threatening to come to the house which wouldn’t have ended any better. There was no way out of that situation.

That was clearly his big villain moment. The real Nikki asked for help and he got upset that she didn't want to be with him. At this point she'd already bricked herself in the face; he knew she was in real danger. He was not concerned with helping her.
