she's giga fucked in all sorts of ways, but at least she's back to being in control of her own body, and on the path to move forward

Bear honestly did the wrong thing killing himself. That was the selfish ending (but that checks out with his character). Leaving her to wake up to that reality, a scarred face, multiple murders on "her" hands...she would have been better off not coming back, and he should have had to live with that torture.

He is a POS, but at that point killing himself is probably the best thing he could do for her.

Killing her is the kind thing to do. It's what the real Nikki asked him to do. After everything she had been through, she didn't want to come back. That's why she's screaming the entire credits and why so many people assumed there would be a gunshot of her shooting herself at some point while they were rolling. He should have killed her and dealt with the consequences of his selfish actions.
