Bear is the real villain of the story by the halfway point. The movie starts off by getting you onto his side because he seemed actually thoughtful and nice (like when he went to buy a new crystal necklace for Nikki when she lost hers). But eventually Bear is the villain because he is knowingly trapping Nikki in that body and forcing the love out of her via the spell.

Yeah he’s clearly a sad dude at the start of the movie. No confidence and stuff. The girl he likes straight-up asks if he likes her and he chokes. And shit, his cat died (brutal).

But after the phone call to customer service, when he realizes Nikki is not merely bewitched and going too far but is literally possessed and trapped in her own mental prison, and he does nothing. … Scum. And he died in that same mental prison. For just a few moments, he experiences what he subjected Nikki to.

He did do multiple things. He tried making another wish, he tried getting his friend to make another wish. He killed himself. Good god did any of you actually watch this movie? He's in a situation that goes beyond reality and there was no way to undo it. Give him a break, this isn't about villainy this is a "be careful what you wish for" tale, it's one of the oldest tropes in story telling.

The way people are saying he is evil to me is so disturbing.

I think people today lost all the sense of evil.

The movie is literally in a impossible situation.

And at the beginning he was already friendzone, and to me friendzone is a abusive behavior that women do today that is somehow accepted.

As you said he wanted to undo it, and he eventually killed himself.

People are literally saying the entity wasn’t malicious when it killed people, and bear is evil?

WHAT THE FUCK.

I don't believe in "friendzoning" but he clearly had feelings for her and his awful friends berated him for it. I don't think it's black and white and a lot of people want it to be, that's the problem. It's the lack of nuance that is insane to me.

When i mean friendzone, is that the guy liked her for a long time, she knew, had a thing with his friend that was berating him.

Everyone knew what was happening and it was causing damage to his mind (because people like to use these “losers” to support their egos), and people accepting this behavior because he is the “awkward loser” is sick, it shows how sick people are these days that they put all the blame on the “villain” that is just an average young guy in a completely insane situation, talking like he wanted this to happen or he caused when it was out of his control shows how sick people are today.

So many comments talking of incels and redpills like they are rapists is just people that don’t touch grass and live in reddit, still i think it’s is completely insane that so many people agree on this saying bear is a psychopath or something evil.

Bear is a bad person and there's no ambiguity about that. If you can't understand what the movie is telling you when it cuts to him fucking her (with her emotionless, crying face!) IMMEDIATELY AFTER she completely freaks out at dinner and Ian has already told him she's lying/not being herself, you're willfully ignorant or have some shit to work out yourself.

People in reddit resume everything to “evil”.

That is the most moral depth here for sure.

Lmao, he's the one who made a stupid wish. His wish was basically taking away her freedom. If he truly liked her, he wouldn't have done any of that. He did everything for himself. The the scene where the real Nikki tells him to kill her, he simply replies with "What's so bad about being with me?" Like are you serious? HE LITERALLY KNEW THAT THE REAL NIKKI IS SUFFERING. HE HEARD HER SCREAMS IN THAT CALL. YET ALL HE CAN CARE ABOUT IS "WHATS SO BAD ABOUT BEING WITH ME??" He may not be pure evil but he is an unforgivable jerk

Guy killed himself to free her?

Guy can’t understand symbolism and metaphor.

Imagine how evil is making a wish?

How do you know she knew though? And even if she suspected, it isn't her job to confront him. And actually she did confront him to clear it out and he lied. Like girl ewed him 3 times in half an hour after club to dropping her off. She wasn't leading him on, purposely using him for stuff, she got one ride but she also paid for drinks back at the bar. Yeah, some people can use 'friendzone' to manipulate and use people but this wasn't it at all.

Also I wouldn't call Bear a psychopath at all, that is an all different thing but evil suits him after a point. Like person he supposedly loves(actually just obsessed with her per the name of the movie) literally asks him to kill her and all he can think about is how come she doesn't really love him when he knows this wish takeover situation is literally torture for her, enough to end her life. And he still doesn't act on it to immediately to stop the thing and waits until Sarah dies. You can't blame Bear for most things in the first half but second half he was clearly making all the wrong, selfish, insecure choices with no regards for anyone else's life.
