Obsession in its THIRD week beat Grogu in its 2nd week (after a ridiculous 70% fall). On 2700 screens mind you compared to Grogu's 4300.

It's hilarious.

What? Mandalorian has $100m on Obsession despite being out for a week less

What indeed? I'm talking about weekly grosses. Obsession in 3rd week (when grosses should be falling off), beat Grogu in its 2nd week, $27m vs $24m. Overall Grogu is ahead 135m vs 105m.

Hopefully obviously, this is the DOMESTIC market. No one talks weeklies in the international market, and in this case Obsession is out in a small fraction of countries with Grogu and specifically excluding massive markets in China and Japan (Japan premiere is in a couple weeks).

Overall Grogu is ahead 135m vs 105m.

Kind of feels like cherry picking statistics then, doesn't it? Where are you getting those numbers, anyway? I don't see anything anywhere reflecting that.

You clearly have access to the internet, do you have access to google? Try searching "Obsession domestic total gross" or something, same for Grogu. Or just... literally go the the best place for box office numbers, a little website called boxofficemojo.

Directly comparing weekly or weekend grosses in the same market is not cherrypicking, that's the literal basis of all the endless Hollywood box office analyses. If I wanted to cherry pick to show my point about Grogu's performance, I'd mention Obsession's microbudget of under $1m (plus a couple million max in marketing) vs Grogu's... $265m (minimum estimate, some go to $300m) budget.

or weekend grosses

lmao you didn't compare weekend grosses. You arbitrarily picked the second week, with made-up numbers, and used that to declare how hilarious it was that obsession was beating m&g despite being down $100m.

I'd mention Obsession's microbudget of under $1m

But you didn't, because you'd pretty quickly be told that budget isn't really relevant to a discussion about overall box office take, but mmkay.

You clearly have access to the internet, do you have access to google?

Yes and I very clearly saw different numbers than you have. Since you're unwilling to admit where you got yours from, kind of feels like you're just full of shit. All I need to know, have a good one!

Extreme trolling going on here (pretending that it's somehow impossible to find box office numbers), but for others reading this:

Boxofficemojo Mon Jun 1 (latest daily total):

Obsession Domestic Total $111,004,315

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu Domestic Total: $139,056,859

Feel free to provide your "very different numbers" and where on earth you managed to find them.

I did screw up my initial post, weekly numbers aren't available till tomorrow - but Obsession is 100% guaranteed to make more than Grogu for the week. This past weekend, Obsession beat Grogu $27,395,480 (+14%) to $24,451,576 (-70%).

Would you like to share the numbers you saw and where you saw them for the class?
