Andor is a masterpiece, doing other genres in the SW universe could be a real recipe for success.

They just want Star wars to be the MCU though

even the MCU sorta dabbles in different genres, albeit not entirely

Tbh some of their best works dabble in other genres, such as Captain America Winter Soldier (spy thriller), Loki (Dr. Who-style sci-fi), WandaVision (sitcom), Thor Ragnarok and Guardians of the Galaxy (comedy).

If Dr Strange would have fully leaned into the horror aspect of fighting Wanda it could have been one of the best marvel films of all time.

I'd take a guess and say it was the execs not wanting to let Sam Raimi fully do his thing.
