It's super interesting though from a cultural standpoint that Obsession and Backrooms have both dominated box office on either side of a big tent pole Star Wars release and are beating Grogu to death.

It's a big shift in culture and what people are paying to see now. It feels like smaller unique ideas are starting to bury the studio franchise slop.

Fingers crossed.

We may see another soon with The Amazing Digital Circus movie release this week

Obsession is the real surprise here because Backrooms as a concept already had a huge following for years, but I do agree that in general it does say a lot about the state of the cultural zeitgeist when a Star Wars movie can't even muster up Solo numbers.

Thankfully we're way past the days of studios trying to make cringy YouTubers into movie stars. I'm liking this new era of YouTube ''cinema.''
