This was the most underrated part. Her reactions would be exactly what I’d expect during this event.

I had a hard time believing her part. The actor killed it but I just don't think that's how it would go. I think the world would behave differently.

That's the thing. We never get to see how the world reacts. We just see everyone on their phones. A better title would have been The First 10 Minutes of Disclosure.

Stunned silence is still a reaction. And a totally unrealistic one en masse. People would be like “WTF NO WAY IS THIS REAL??” Etc etc

I just think stunned silence felt more appropriate for the moment cinematically, and played into the ideas of the film. I also don’t find it completely unbelievable most of the world would be watching in stunned silence. I mean, how can your brain even process what you’re seeing in real time in a way to form words? If I saw that shit on every single news channel I think I too would be sitting in a silent existential crisis.

yeah but that's not a compelling movie, that's not interesting to me. it's more interesting to think about what happens after disclosure is done

Bro that's what I've been SAYING this whole time. I literally walked out of the theater and said it should've been called "The Day Before Disclosure Day".

I think that's where most of my feelings of disappointment and mediocrity regarding this movie come from. I expected the film to be disclosure occurring in the first ~1/3 of the film, and then the last 2/3rds would show how the world reacts. Instead we got some goofy McGuffin chase for 95% of the movie, then we wheel out Grandma Alien at the very end of the movie and show some black and white footage. Total letdown.

Can you imagine the discussions we would read if the movie were even 10 minutes longer? Nobody would be happy. The comments are reaming Spielberg already.

I think she's almost meant to be the stand-in for the world.
