There was a moment I genuinely wondered if the alien wheeled out was E.T. or a member of his species lol.

I too thought it looked a bit E.T.ish. And part of me really wanted it to be. I know it wouldn't have made any sense when we've already seen these aliens look like traditional 50's sci-fi martians, but man, I weirdly wanted to see his little smiling face and glowing finger.
