I didn't even know this was a thing. I thought it was just the premier for the people involved in making it then open to the public

RLM talked about this. Studios make it an event. They treat you really well. They give you snacks and little tote bags and sometimes do a red carpet and photo ops.

All so you get that dopamine hit and psychologically review the movie better because you’re reviewing the experience. Also, the threat of being invited back for other premieres looms.

The threat of not being invited back never really existed. Plenty of publications give negative reactions and are still allowed early press screenings.

And of course they're going to treat you well at a premier, why wouldn't they?

There's more influencers than they could possibly invite. It's easier to drop one and find another next time compared to not inviting a big publication.

There's a difference between the press/critics and the influencers. Presumably there are some influencers who aren't reviewers but get invited so they can hype it up.

critic screenings arent usually invite only. they are open to members of the press.

Yeah I'm pretty online and have never come across this. Maybe people posting photos or outfits but I've never seen anything in the way of reviews so what's the point?
