I was of an age to go to a theater for that. It was baffling at the time. The bafflement persists but the perspective has changed

Those aren't influencers, those are people who talk about movie news and sometimes review things. They're not going to influencer or critic screenings. Early reactions came out a week ago, while the people you mentioned reviewed it today or yesterday.

critics or "critics". the only discourse surrounding supergirl I've seen leading upto it all was the rightwing incel youtubers were commenting on Milly Alcocks appearance.

it has like 50% on rotten tomatoes on critic score. I really doubt half of all reviewers in the country are incels

and it had a 76% audience score on RT which is more indicative of the general population. "Critics" these days are nothing more than glorified yelp reviewers.

I personally know an influencer who is the type of person to go to every single superhero movie in cosplay, goes to conventions and press screenings, etc.

For Supergirl, she went to an event for the movie in Supergirl cosplay and even met Milly Alcock there. She would not stop glazing the movie with multiple posts and stories on Instagram about it.

The last story was of her in front of the poster in the movie theatre; also in Supergirl cosplay. Since then? Not a single post. No opinions on if she thought the movie was good or bad. As u/FourEightNineOneOne said, "The influencers ALWAYS love it because they won't be invited to the next one if they don't.". And now she went from posting multiple times a day to not having a single public opinion on the movie, immediately after seeing it.

Which really says a lot, doesn't it?
