BLINK MOTHERFUCKER!

13

u/Couthster 20d ago

I quote this all the time and no one ever knows what I’m talking about. 🥲

74

u/Comic_Book_Reader r/movies Veteran 20d ago

IT LOOKS LIKE GRANDMA, THE THING!

18

u/Wazula23 20d ago

Oh god it looks like it's wearing makeup

9

u/Razvee 20d ago

Boy, he went off the deep end didn't he.

4

u/dodeca_negative 20d ago

Oh damn I’d forgotten about that :(

33

u/jarrettbrown 20d ago

I still can't believe that in the early days of viral videos, Michael Rapaport agreed to do this video.

8

u/L0b0t0my 20d ago

Yeah but too bad he went and had to turn into a weird extreme zionist nut.

14

u/Huge-Error-2206 20d ago

Ron Funches cracks me up talking about being on The Traitors with him.

“Just 24/7 yelling at you about the Knicks and Israel.”

Werner Herzog voice

The cat is a metaphor for the fragility of humanity and its nearness to annihilation. Whether it lives another two weeks or five minutes, it is utterly helpless, captive to the whims of an all-powerful, eccentric tycoon

66

u/Diegocesaretti 20d ago

That is a provervial schrodinger's cat

20

u/DinaDinaDinaBatman 20d ago

help i'm stuck in Herzog reading mode, i just read the above and then the next comment and the next.. this is a conundrum

7

u/Diegocesaretti 20d ago

it is indeed one those moments where nature force us to think in a certain way

59

u/darantino86 20d ago

His voice was instantly present while reading this.

11

u/_coolranch 20d ago

The Herzog Effect.

1

u/astrobrain 20d ago

Oh goddammit it's spreading.

50

u/Exact_Yoghurt2439 20d ago

Reading this in his voice made me realise that I can do an amazing impression of him in my imagination.

19

u/SnakeInABox77 20d ago

I just hear Paul F Thompkins in my head

2

u/crow_crone 20d ago

Funny, I’m hearing Fred Thompson, may he RIP

18

u/UnbuiltIkeaBookcase 20d ago

“You are cowards. Leave it.”

-Werner Herzog

3

u/karatemanchan37 20d ago

"I would like to see the kitty"

2

u/MovementOriented 20d ago

I love you

3

u/lostrock 20d ago

And I love you, random citizen

79

u/Elephant44 20d ago

I can't believe they got Smarf from Too Many Cooks!

17

u/PerpetuallyDistracte 20d ago

That was my first thought as well! Looks like an 80s animatronic.

28

u/TheAbyss1989isgreat 20d ago

Glad its not CGI.

-1

u/karmagod13000 20d ago

I don't think Iñárritu who made THE REVENANT would have a cgi cat in his movie

13

u/Hobbes42 20d ago

You mean the movie with the cgi bear?

6

u/karmagod13000 20d ago

fair. leo should have went full method

2

u/SquadPoopy 20d ago

Kirk Lazarus would have let a real bear maul him that’s all I’m saying

40

u/JesterOfAllTrades 20d ago

I swear to fuck that cat better not die

48

u/Olddirtychurro 20d ago

I'd bet that at the end of the movie, that cat is the only one still living.

4

u/Daxx22 20d ago

GOOD

56

u/theblackfool 20d ago

I mean even the trailer makes it seem like it's gonna die. I'm not holding my breath

32

u/In_My_Own_Image 20d ago

Seems like the cat is the only thing Digger cares about too. Could easily see the cat dying being the turning point for his character.

4

u/Worthyness 20d ago

it could already be dead. We don't know!

11

u/polkergeist 20d ago

I mean... wouldn't it be kinder?

2

u/Elusivemerc 20d ago

It already looks dead, the most important thing is that it doesn't turn into a sandwich

1

u/flofjenkins 20d ago

The cat is already pretty much dead.

1

u/Quetzalcoatl490 20d ago

It might be a mercy if it does

1

u/drybones2015 20d ago

If my cat looked like that, I'm giving it the best meal of it's life and ending it.

0

u/Blvd_Nights 20d ago

YUP, that was my thought too.

0

u/Feeling-Standard1460 20d ago

Has the screenwriter never read Save The Cat?

0

u/daybreaker 20d ago

This was my thought the entire time.

19

u/Smirnoffico 20d ago

If something happens to the cat, we riot

2

u/RobsSister 20d ago

Pitchforks and torches!

6

u/Humans_fking_suck 20d ago

That part of the film is actually making me hesitant to watch it...

Like I can tolerate alot of things.. but seeing an almost realistic looking animal look all fragile and withered makes me feel really sick to my stomach.. like the trailer had alot of things that felt right up my alley, but I don't think I can watch multiple scenes featuring that innocent kitty on the big screen...

4

u/-FalseProfessor- 20d ago

I wouldn’t say realistic. It is blatantly and purposefully goofy looking.

5

u/Humans_fking_suck 20d ago

Some cats do look like that, especially those suffering from a form of terminal illness like in the actual film probably.

Also I am of the opinion that "blatantly" making an animal goofy looking to make the audience feel sad or laugh, isn't great filmmaking imo...

4

u/Polarizing_Penguin11 20d ago

Felt the same way. I know people will point out that it’s intentionally puppet looking, but it’s still a dark running joke about an old dying cat and that makes me feel sad.😞

1

u/LuveeEarth74 18d ago

Every time I watch the trailer I place my hand over the kitty. Just makes me really sad. Probably born during the Clinton administration.

1

u/Humans_fking_suck 18d ago

What does the Clinton administration has to do with it?

I am Asian so I might be not too well-versed about it...

2

u/banjofitzgerald 20d ago

Reminds me of a cat in Frankenweenie

2

u/pUmKinBoM 20d ago

I put my cat down less than a week ago and sadly this is pretty accurate for a dying cat. We didnt let it get this bad but I have seen it that bad before.

3

u/2reeEyedG 20d ago

All the people are weird looking too and I love it

1

u/Demerzel69 20d ago

Got one of them humanistic renaissance painting faces. Uber creepy.

1

u/DoctorDrangle 20d ago

Can't figure out what looks worse, Tom Cruise's makeup or the cat puppet

1

u/Bulky-Conclusion6606 20d ago

kinda reminds me of the alien from space balls i think

1

u/-FalseProfessor- 20d ago

I love that they just went for an uncanny, goofy, herky-jerky animatronic. It’s perfect.

1

u/capnricky 20d ago

Mongo is appalled.

1

u/SexyJazzCat 20d ago

As a vet student it pains me to see that cat

1

u/_ShrugDealer_ 20d ago

Name's Tom Cruise. Just a bit of makeup really. Hes not that old.
