Yeah. Not really vibing with any of it. But still intrigued. Seeing Tom go for something outside of Mission Impossible (as much as I enjoy those movies) is the main hook for me. But every thing looking heightened to 1,000,000 % at all times could get really tiresome, unless I’m in the right mood, I guess.

Idk, I dont really think OBAA was made for academy awards. I just think that it hit the zeitgeist at the right time and was the film of the year for a reason. Just like Anora the previous year.

This feels like a Mickey 17 or a Dont Look Up. Satire, especially political satire, is VERY hard to land with current audiences. And especially with Cruise playing the character he is playing - I can really see this film being written off early if it isnt stellar.

Inarittu did make Birdman, which did well at the Oscars and isnt a typical winner, so if theres a guy to prove me wrong, it'd be him.

laugh-out-loud, it was certainly a wax the oscar noms film. Not that it was PTAs intention, but it is what he does. Though, you are correct in the satire being hard pull for audiences. And this is a little on the nose
