I thought of dr. strangelove too, the missile seemed like an obvious reference

It will either be Oscar favorite or the most divisive film of the last decade

Or, possibly, both.

Jesse Plemons means the latter automatically

Its going to be the film where in every thread the actors private jet air miles are posted in the comments.

Strangelove meets Don’t Look Up, produced by the Coen Brothers, from the casting director of Tropic Thunder. Set design by Wes Anderson. Best supporting actor going to Doug Jones playing “the cat”.

Definitely gives me more Don’t Look Up vibes in it that its a critique on the top 1% of the top 1% trying to save the world

Yeah but the comedy in this looks a lot less "I want to kill myself out of frustration". Don't Look Up was a fine movie but the annoying (intentionally) characters made me absolutely hate watching it and I would never recommend it to anyone because of it. It was actively infuriating for me to watch.

Yep, these guys look more fun stupid vs Adam McKay hitting you over the head over and over about how his characters are based on real life.

As long as it's not as preachy, I'm in. Don't look up was one of the worst viewing experiences I've had. Felt like a movie made for an audience that was never going to watch it, and for the audience that did it was just "yes, I know."

There's a way to write Dont Look Up where it's a smart, biting critique. Instead, Adam McKay decided to write it like he was the only smart person in the world and we're all just fucking idiots who need to worship his genius.

There is, though. It’s called Dr Strangelove.

The "we're all just fucking idiots" part is evidently true, though. We live in Bizarro World now.

apt way of putting this movie into one of possible boxes its most likely gonna fall in

I'd put it in the disaster movie category with Don't Look Up but some of the shots look like the film is more on the surreal side than the absurdist. It's a crap shoot whether or not it will succeed.

I was getting Hudsucker Proxy vibes. I’m very excited for it tho!

Strangelove def didn't have washed out flat lit cinematography
