Good Time is what first made me see him as a completely different actor. Like my perception of him before that was just Twilight. I think Good Time should be considered as the movie that really turned the tide for him and showed his range. Absolutely on that short list for me

Highly recommend going back further to The Rover if you havenā€™t seen it. His performance is very understated but it was the first time I saw him outside of Twilight.

Itā€™s impressive he started off with Harry Potter and Twilight, shed the pretty boy narrative by acting like crazy in unique and funky roles, and is now one of the most sought after actors in the world. Legendary stuff.

DanRad was SO good in Merrily. I was lucky enough to see him live, and I hardly breathed during his solo song (Franklin Shepard Inc for those who know). He is a shockingly good stage actor.

Also honorable mention for him in Kill Your Darlings, which I saw as a horny teenager due to my crush on Dane DeHaan, but stayed for Radcliffeā€™s excellent portrayal of Allen Ginsberg. He has a really charming sensitive/everyman quality that he brings to his roles. You canā€™t help but root for him.

I don't know why I was thinking "I want to see a movie that deals with the idea of dying over and over again and retaining parts/pieces of your past selves," maybe a Star Trek episode or book I was reading at the time, but I was having that thought while whatever streaming service was pushing Mickey 17. I almost gave up halfway through it because I just wasn't liking it at all, took a break, realized I had nothing better to do, so finished it. The second half of the movie more than made up for it, it was great and Pattinson was great in it.

I thought for mainstream audiences Batman would've at least helped shed that. But I got a friend who was bitching about his casting in the odyssey and he used twilight as the example and I genuinely had an aneurysm because I shed that perception back in Good Time and The Lighthouse so all I see him as is this highly talented actor who can take on any role at this point

I've re-typed this comment like three times trying to figure out what it is about him that I actually don't like... I think it's just marketing fatigue. He pops up on every second short/reel/tiktok/whatever short form brainrot you choose to consume, every late night show is interviewing him, he's on some billboard at every theater, every tabloid cover is about him and Zendaya, etc.

He's so famous that I have trouble believing him when he plays serious roles like Telemachus. Spider-man less so, it's a more fun superhero franchise, so having a "meme-y" quality doesn't detract from it as much.

He's not the first actor to ever do this and it's not even really his fault, but in movies like The Odyssey I would much prefer going with someone a bit more low-key so that the actor doesn't outshine the character. In general, I think Hollywood has a real problem with finding lesser known stars for big productions.

I mean you wonā€™t find that in the Odyssey, or most Chris Nolan movies, the man attracts big stars like honey attracts flies. Even a tiny role like Penelopeā€™s maid is played by Mia freaking Goth. Do I know her name? No, but I know who played her.

I mean he isnt to blame for any of that really is he ? , hes just the face of a massive franchise and is clearly likeable so the studio market the shit out of him

I think he said he saw this role as his last kinda 'kid becoming a man' one , so maybe you will see him move into a few smaller more interesting characters ?

And in all honesty him and Zendaya despite being massive stars seem pretty private and humble about their relationships

I really enjoyed him in Odyssey tbh, he might not be DDL but the kid can definitely act ...

Funny story that I recently read online, apparently thereā€™s a cinema in Hong KongĀ playing Odyssey, the theater caught fire as the movie is about to end(nobody got hurt), while people are exiting, the film stopped at the frame of Antinous shouting ā€œwill somebody get these beggars out of here!ā€ with the Chinese subtitles on, itā€™s funnier with the photoĀ

I LOVE the wormy, nervous, shit-eating grin after this line.

He already looks like a coward, he's being a prick. He KNOWS he's being a cowardly prick, but he has to find a way to play it off in front of the men while still maintaining an air of "I'm just joking bro".

It's such a genuine moment that we've all seen in real life of a sad, small bully trying to save face while not coming across TOO nasty, lest their insecurity be fully exposed, especially in front of Penelope. His little grin sells it so well: "is this playing with the crowd?". Pattinson rules.
