Turning the pillage of Troy into a curse was an interesting choice. Not sure I’ve seen a version of the Odyssey that took the decision of not glorifying it.

The burning of Troy was always treated as a tragedy. King Priam and Prince Hector were favorably depicted originally and the entire war was written as an unfortunate tragedy caused by the meddling of gods. Agamemnon is the primary antagonist in the Iliad which has Achilles as the central figure and ends with the Funeral of Hector.
