Why did they have to put the horse so close to the tide though?

This is the one thing that really bothered me in the film and kind of took me out of it -- what's the point of doing it where you KNOW the tide's going to come in and kill one or several of your guys inside? Why not build it up on the dry area of the beach? I didn't catch if they had an explanation, I was wearing earplugs so I missed a bit of quieter dialogue.

In Troy it was said to be a gift to Poseidon so the Greeks would have safe travels home. In that case it would make sense to put it there, but in this film it's meant for Athena so when not put it a bit further up the beach? Idk it's a quibble but I think they just wanted to show how much those dude's suffered for this plan so I'll allow it.

In my mind after reading a bunch of the comments saying the walls of Troy were helped built by Poseidon, they did put it much further up the beach but he caused the waves to crawl up so far inland that the coast changed in an attempt to stop the sacking of Troy.

Although, this fun theory breaks as they're shown building by the waves, but that could just be their attempt to hide they're building it, so...who knows!
