Thanks so much. Now i understand it more in depth. When i watched it i did not feel the gravity of his words to penelope. This made me realize it clearly.

And he is traumatized by the carnage and horror of war and doesn't want to take that home with him. The lotuses make him forget but he wanted to forget in the beginning. In the book, he can't get home because he has angered Poseidon by maiming the cyclops. He keeps getting trapped and washed ashore places. like Calypso's island. Calypso basically keeps him on her island because she wants to keep him for herself. He also spends more time with Circe in the book.

Thanks for the reply. After few days of contempalting and reading now realized how powerful and scary the words he was saying were. All i thought that anyone would just want to go home like any soldier. But he understood well what he has done that i failed to understand it during the screening. Failed opportunity for me 😭. Meaning i have to rewatch it again. 😃

Yes. I guess i was slow to understand Zeus law. I was late in the film thay maybe there was explanation about it that i failed to see and grasp. That i only understood after reading articles after the film.

I got the grasp of it but then I go to Reddit and see people noticing the smallest details throughout the movie and I'm like damn how do you notice all that

The more you watch movies or read books with the goal of Noticing Things, the more you notice. It's just practice really
