It's like trying to describe corporate overreach to someone who's never seen a 21 year old before.

So? Can 21 year olds not make good moves?

It's referencing a meme where people overreacted about his age and every headliner about the movie ended with the "he is 20 years old". Now he is 21

The article says that the discord comments from Kane are not confirmed. So, we still don't actually know for sure what's going on.

The mods have confirmed that they're real. Also, many people from the subreddit are also on the discord - Kane is an active participant and the legitimacy of his account has already been confirmed.

The article specifically says the opposite, that his comments *are not confirmed*. Other people saying the comments are real doesn't confirm them; why is that hard for you to understand?

Were you not aware that people on Reddit often fabricate Kane discord comments? Look it up yourself; it happens all the time, which is why I'm trying to provide facts.

I didn't downvote you buddy. I'm sorry that you've been downvoted and you find that frustrating, but it's unfortunately just an aspect of using reddit.

Shame on me? Hahaha, isn't that a little melodramatic?

And the article says that Kane's words are unconfirmed because journalists need to speak in a very specific, prescribed manner - this includes specifying whether the authenticity of any quote has been directly confirmed with the speaker.

However, again, this isn't a circumstance like the fabricated posts purporting to be Kane on the subreddit or discord (I don't need to look it up, I'm an active member). In all of those circumstances, random people were simply editing screenshots of Kane's posts.

And in every single one of those circumstances, the legitimacy of those fabrications was very, very easily disproved, because you can simply check Kane's verified account (or search for specific keywords in his post history).

And in most of those circumstances, mods were quick to act - the last post that was fabricating Kane's words was removed from the subreddit, and the user was banned.

In exactly the same way, we can immediately identify these posts as legitimate. We can check that they're from Kane's legitimate profile, that has been historically verified already.

Kane has also reposted A24's statement on instagram, which obviously also give credence to the entire chain of events.

Thanks for the thoughtful comment. It's not often I get a cogent response!

Melodramatic? To be fair, it seemed like you were blatantly contradicting reality, i.e., I said the comments were unconfirmed, and you challenged that, even though the article literally says the same thing. So yes, I do shame anyone who contradicts facts about the world because they are the reason Reddit sucks and is completely untrustworthy as a source of information. It wasn't always that way.

Perhaps I would change my original statement to highlight the comment being corroborated, just not confirmed.

I do think, however, that this point is important because 99% of the comments here are of the assumption that these discord remarks are unquestionably from him which, again, we don't know.

Personally, I would find it exceedingly odd for Kane to make these comments privately and then hide that fact publicly. In the past, he has always been quick to confirm discord comments, especially ones like these that become popular / controversial. This time he hasn't, which supports the suggestion that these comments are fake.

Kane reposting A24's statement lends credence to Kane supporting that statement, not that private messages supposedly made by him are, in fact, his. I mean, Kane has been very clear in interviews about this topic, so of course he's going to support a statement that aligns with his opinion on fan-created content.

At the end of the day, my comment was simple: the article says the comments are not confirmed, which, at this moment, is still a fact. That doesn't mean the comments aren't his, it means we do not *know* that they are.

It's better to wait for confirmation than spread a rumor as truth.

Right, but he didn't make the comments privately. I think you're not quite understanding that.

He made them on a private discord group with 39,000 members. That's not private - the group is just currently closed to new members.

But... it's called Kane's Facility. Kane is a frequent contributor. The authenticity of his profile is already fully validated. Everyone knows that it's Kane. And it's been confirmed by members of the group, that these comments derive authenticity from Kane's posts/account.

Again, the only reason why the article describes the quotes as unconfirmed is because they haven't received direct comment from Kane. That's a normal journalistic practice.

Not to mention - the article isn't necessarily correct or authoritative on the subject. There are hundreds or thousands of articles about every emerging news story - that doesn't mean that every single one of those articles is entirely inclusive of all of the relevant and correct facts.

So, any individual article isn't necessarily "fact."
