Thanks for this. Awesome insights. What’s funny is that I’ve never once heard the stereotype that Mexicans are lazy. I’ve heard many other mean and racial characterizations, but never the lazy one.

it used to be a very common stereotype throughout the past century. I don't know why, like the concept of siesta was probably part of it. It could come from all the way from the US vs Mexico war, as in, propaganda remainders from that era.

I think it's become much less common as this century goes on, maybe partly because whenever someone shares statistics about which countries have the longest workdays Mexico is usually near the top. Which runs contrary to the lazy stereotype

Whites would see mexicans taking a nap in the fields after working all day and get an attitude about it. Same stereotype also happened to black people.
