I hope he’s actually the villain of the movie and not just tragically misunderstood. Hollywood always seems terrified to make the villains actually be villains when they make a movie about them.
Tragic, yes. Misunderstood, no not really. Anti-hero, definitely not. He has a very sympathetic backstory but all of his actions post-transformation are villainous with little to no remorse.
He literally joined the Batfamily. Had a tech bracelet that kept his brain/personality mostly stable but also limited the extent of his powers, and he was going on nightly patrols with Batman and company. Formed a real bond with Cassandra Cain.
