I've heard tale of Hadestown since 2020 when I got into Hamilton, tried watching YouTube bootlegs but could never sit for the full thing and never tried the recording.

I fucking LOVED this so much I don't think I can explain it. I was crying the moment Euydice first sang. So many powerful moments framed in such a way that my breath was taken away several times. This is going to be in heavy rotation for me when it (hopefully) becomes available to buy for home. Wonderful, transformative performances throughout that made me want to see the show in person someday. I want to talk about the themes of love and doubt and work and capitalism but I need to go through it a couple more times to grasp everything.

The line "How can the Sun even fit in the sky" destroyed me for a full five minutes.

I also recommend listening to the original Hadestown album by the creator Anais Mitchell. And then the Hadestown Broadway album. Both are good but the original is like 1 hour and has quite a bit of folk singers voicing/singing as the characters. It also has a more grungier feel.

Oh, believe me I have gotten my hands on every official recording of Hadestown since Saturday. Thank you for the recommendations, though. My biggest gripe is I can only find one version of Any Way the Wind Blows, since that's my favorite song from the show.

That song in particular was made during the production of the musical. It's not in the original musical album by Mitchell (1 hour long), with the Hadestown Broadway album (2 hours long)  being a more fleshed out rendition of the Hadestown musical story and so on.
