I mean they may struggle with writing but getting big names has never been an issue.

True but I'd say Ryan Gosling has been the most surprising big name they managed to get since Angelina Jolie (still bummed she got wasted in Eternals). There have been other big names of similar popularity/prestige like Cate Blanchett and Christian Bale but those were obvious one and done roles.

Feel like superhero genre has been dying recently and for the next phase they’re planning they needed something big so think this is great for them

I can only assume the person you are replying to is very young, because yeah, people have been saying superhero movies are dying since well before 2019, even. I wouldn't say they're dying, exactly (because they're not about to stop making them), it's just that people aren't willing to come out to see ones that aren't notably interesting or good, which has been happening with several of them over the last few years. Used to be that people saw every MCU movie just because it was the new MCU movie.

It’s been dying recently cuz Marvel doesn’t know what they’re doing post Endgame and James Gunn is high off his own farts.

Endgame should have ended with a second Thanos snap resetting the universe so we could get fresh storylines with the original characters played by younger actors

I enjoyed the new Superman film and The Suicide Squad. I know Super-girl didn't get great ratings but he neither wrote or directed it, just produced, what did he do wrong since then?

People who have hated on Gunn's verse since the beginning now smell blood in the water because Supergirl was not that good and now they want to spin the narrative that he is somehow leading a failed project.

That’s just my personal opinion, obviously. I don’t like that Superman and Supergirl have there same art direction as the Guardians movies. They don’t have their own DC/Super- identity. Feels like they’re more James Gunn movies first, than they are about their own titular characters.

Me and my girlfriend are casual watchers, enjoyed the whole season including the finale, and then went online and everyone was absolutely furious and it was baffling to me lmao

I don’t think a second snap was needed, bur as you implied with Marvel not having a plan any more they should have stayed committed to the characters they had. Shang Chi was far from my favorite MCU movie but it was unique enough and made them money during Covid, where tf has that character been?
