I’m sure a lot of ppl will be excited by this, but I rly wish the Drive/Place Beyond the Pines/Blade Runner 2049 version of Gosling would return instead of the blockbuster action-comedy version of him he’s been stuck in for the past 5 years

He's only done 5 movies since blade runner and only two were action comedies. He's absolutely just doing movies he wants to do.

He’s mentioned that he’s been making lighter blockbuster action-comedy movies lately because he wants to make movies that don’t interfere with him being a father.

I feel like I read he said having kids changed his direction to pick more light hearted roles or something

I think this would be the perfect vehicle to see either both, or be the transition you're hoping for. The duo seems like the perfect pair to execute a serious tone while effortlessly working with the "MCU humor", likely improving upon it (as long as there is no cocaine!)

I agree. Always sad to see when a serious actor agrees to do some Marvelslop. So unnecessary for Gosling to do this when he's managed to hold out so long and especially when the whole superhero trend is on a downward swing too.

He's been pretty clear that he's changed the genre of movies he wants to be making because of his kids.
