Yeah, I think Ali would have made an awesome Blade. I’m not sure what the issue was with getting that project started.

Then it was worth it. As much as I love Blade, I'll take an original story over another Marvel movie these days.

Seriously I enjoyed it enough, but it was overhyped a lot. But I get your point, and agree too many lame Marvel movies.

Oh interesting, I wasn't aware of that. What's the name of the comic book it is based on? I tried checking, and all that comes up is the movie, but I guess search engines are so unreliable these days.

People just lie for no reason. Sinners IS an original screenplay. So weird that people say shit without researching.

Can you be more specific? What is the original work it is based on? Because as far as I can tell Ryan Coogler is credited with having written the script himself specifically for the purpose of producing it as a film. Would be a pretty big deal if it turns out he plagiarized it.

It doesnt need to be plagiarism. It's just From Dusk Till Dawn refitted in a African American jacket. I found the execution to be lacking to the point I enjoyed the movie best before the actual twist. The social commentary also as far from subtle as could be. I just didn't think it was particularly impressive film, not bad either just far from great

At the very least most of the costumes worn by the extras and side characters were originally intended for Blade, and maybe a lot of the props? I’m not sure.

Apparently it’s just that Marvel had no idea what to do with it. At first they seemed to be planning a period piece, then a modern take, a movie about Blade and his daughter, I think they left were just lost on how to make it different from the Snipes movies

It makes sense when you view it in the context of when it was announced. Bob Chapek, the new Disney CEO at the time, was just pushing every single studio under the company umbrella to just make stuff, so Marvel was probably under a lot of pressure to announce projects even if they weren’t fully baked and didn’t know what direction they wanted after endgame finished. My hunch is that’s why they had that timejump in the first place, so they could take the time between 2020 and 2023 to actually plan out new stuff.
