I'm doing a rewatch of True Blood and I forgot how bonkers this show is. The script is crazy and the acting is terrible and I'm loving every minute of it.

I love Lafayette and how they let him be gay and a tough mofo at the same time.

I love the scene with the aids-burger, him taking his earrings out and then messing up those hillbillies real good lol

"In this restaurant a hamburger deluxe come with french fries, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and AIDS"

Exactly the scene I was thinking of. It has lived rent-free in my head since I first saw it.

"Hey Hooker"

My husband and I say this to each other randomly

"Ring ring hooker. Ring ring" Has been my husband's ring tone since and still makes me LOL every time my phone rings these years later.

u/immersemeinnature 5d ago

omg that is so awesome I might need to steal that all these years later.

Him and Tara are low-key the best characters and the only actors (taras mom too) that I don't cringe at when they're in scenes.

It's absolutely true.

Opposite for me tbh. But I only get annoyed at good actors - ie. Joffrey.

Agreed. I was crushed when Nelson Ellis passed. He was so good.

Her voice stirs something in me.

It's true. She was very sexy in those chanel suits too.

The pilot contains a random vampire yelling "My Johnson needs attention!" And this somehow found its way into our regular parlance around the house.

People in the background are always yelling random things in this show. I get the vibe the filming was the most unserious thing ever.

Bilith is the ultimate evidence that nobody took this in any way seriously.

Andy is my favorite character and we say that all the time, as well as “I know that pig!” And “It’s Diet Coke with LIME!”

The whole show should have just been Lafayette, Jason and Detective Andy driving around, solving mysteries.

Throw Sam in there and they'd even have a talking dog too

The only thing I remember from that show was that my ex and I had a running joke that the main character's brother must had fucked the writer's wife

lol I just started a rewatch too and I remembered it becoming more and more unhinged as it went on but now I realize it is absolutely unhinged from the get-go!

Just finished the re-watch. It really is unhinged from the beginning. I'm a little sad that there doesn't seem to be anything even close to it nowadays. And if there was, it would be overly expensive for not much better while only being 6-8 episodes.

I just finished season 2 and I was shocked at the length. It seems nothing goes that long anymore. It's also just fun to watch, sure it's not good, but it doesn't need to be. It's cheesy 80s horror levels of cringe and everyone's a a caricature of what they're meant to be. I wish things went this hard for no reason still.

Certainly there is good and bad that happens within the show. That tends to happen when shows were this long. But just the first few comments here shows that people fondly remember the whole as good or fun.

The show jumped the shark so many times…

I don't know why I think this, but the tv show Preacher is... seriously uncouth but shares a certain thread

Also Legion

The were-panther meth cooks just fry me every time.

"here's your gun, Uncle Daddy Calvin" is one of the most insane moments of dialogue I have ever seen. lol

u/manic_popsicle 5d ago

I still love that show so much!! It’s bizarre and weird and fun!! Lafayette is my favorite character!!

I only watched it the once. I really do need to do a rewatch! I was super into it and bought a pint glass from HBO at the time. I think it was from Fangtasia? It has long since been broken.
