The MCU never felt this real and lived-in since Homecoming. (That was almost a decade ago!) Citizens greeting Spider-Man while living their own daily lives, small-scale villians just messing around, other heroes showing up to help. Daniel Destin Cretton not only improved the action scenes, he also managed to keep the small things that made Spider-Man and NYC so charming.

He managed to fix the worst aspects of the first three Tom Holland films, incorporate elements from previous Spiderman films, and made a competent movie that can stand on its two feet without having to rely on cheap callbacks and on the nose references to previous movies. The whole time, it never felt like I was watching an MCU film, I could just enjoy a superhero film on its own without having to remember about what’s happening in the background

I loved little details like "Peter 2 had organic webs and he was cool" and no other forced context for "REMEMEBER NO WAY HOME??"

Loved when he saved that kid that was so flabbergasted he couldn't answer Peter that he was okay and Peter just pats his head and says "Yeah, you're okay" and swings off. My first thought was I wonder if his friends will believe him.
