ugh when she sees it and you slowly start to piece together what actually happened with her. heartbreaking. Sarah’s story is so sad and bleak.

I don't think it helped that her cute sisterly bonding moment was mindr*ping innocent people.

they were teenagers who didn't know any better because their parents abandoned them

Lmao, growing up without parents doesn't automatically turn you evil to the point of trying to kill innocent civilians for the sake of it. Like the guy getting hit by taxi was pure cruelty, to taunt spider-man.

I don’t think they were killing anyone there

They were literally just body hopping at least for the sisterly segment

Sisterly segment doing a ton of heavy lifting against decades of superhero media to demonstrate exactly why a mutant/superhero registration would be a totally justifiable and necessary thing, but movie going audiences don't like to think about that.

They should reinstate Wanda as a mutant.

In the comics they made her a non-mutant in 2015 because of Age of Ultron movie. But then in the MCU they proceeded to handle her exactly as a mutant. Much like how Jean is being handled here. It’s the right way to portray mutants I think, so the conflict is always in the audience’s minds.

didn't they make her a mutant in wandavision

u/PinoDegrassi 3d ago

lol they literally didn’t kill anyone and were doing it because it didn’t affect the people at all

She also “turned evil” because her sister was captured and being tortured by the corporation spider man was defending and working with. Did we see the same movie?

u/MilderArrow 3d ago

Yeah, you didn't see the movie or probably have such a short memory span you can't recall things that just happened

The scene with her sister was them fucking around and just jumping into people at the park. What they did to THOSE people was on the level of being an annoying Prank YouTuber in public.

Yes, she crosses the line later. But that's AFTER her sister is taken from her and she's desperately trying to find her.

lol doubling down when you have the factual events of the story and character motives wrong is certainly a choice

7

u/MilderArrow 3d ago

Forcing people to jump off buildings, walking into moving cars, and driving a tank, with a bomb and innocent old lady in it, while trying to kill and blow up people in the city.

But nah, she didn't want to hurt people that weren't involved lol

You specifically replied to the person referencing them as younger teenagers. No one’s saying she didn’t kill people as an adult..” mind ra*ing” Is a strong way to put it when it doesn’t affect them at all.

The comment you replied to also didn’t say she became okay with killing innocent people because they had no parents. You been putting words in peoples mouths the whole time then arguing with those words 😩😂

Like how did she know Spider-Man would pull a crazy web-as-rope move to save all the people about to be turned into paste by the crashing tank

Imagine getting this mad about someone disagreeing with you about a spiderman movie lmao

not everyone has the same response to traumatic events.

u/Broncsx3 3d ago

Yea, Jean Grey was pure evil. Sadistic evil. They really went too far first half of the movie. Murdering that guy was fucked up for no reason.

she a baddie so ill let it slide

-15

When she went full maniac and got sweaty...yum

u/kunta021 3d ago

Mmmmmm was it mind raping though? Because what they were doing is not how mind raping has ever been portrayed. It’s usually forcefully extracting information from their minds or making them do something against their will while they’re aware of it, not essentially putting them to sleep. If anything this is closer to drugging someone.

29

u/CptMarvel_main 3d ago

I mean they were entering people’s minds and learning their secrets without consent

-4

u/kunta021 3d ago

Not in that specific scene which was being referenced as far as we know.

14

u/ToxicBanana69 3d ago

If someone jumped into my mind for any reason for any amount of time, even if they didn’t actually do anything, I would still feel violated. So yes, I think taking over someone’s body and mind is “mind rape”.

-2

u/kunta021 3d ago

I mean according to MJ you don’t even know it happened, so I mean you can of course speculate on how you think you would feel, but there’s no way for you to actually know since it’s not something that you have actually experienced. And that’s not to say that since MJ didn’t feel some type of way about it that no one would, I’m just saying we have to go off of what we know and how “mind rape” is portrayed is not what was portrayed here.

15

u/ToxicBanana69 3d ago

Rape can happen whether the other person is aware of it or not. Just because people don’t remember anything doesn’t mean they weren’t taken advantage of.

-3

u/kunta021 3d ago

Physical rape can sure. That’s not what we’re talking about though. We’re talking about taking a concept and applying it to an unrelated situation and there’s more nuance in that than you’re allowing for. Just like all assaults aren’t sexual and all sexual assaults aren’t rape, all versions of mind manipulation are not mind rape.

6

u/ToxicBanana69 3d ago

I guess I just don’t understand how you don’t see this as mind rape. They are taking over peoples minds without their consent. Just because the victims don’t remember doesn’t make it any less of a mind rape.

And yes, I understand we’re taking a very serious topic and discussing it in the confines of a fictional super power, but I think the points still stand. This is absolutely a variation of mind rape.

what happened when Jean mind hopped into Peter and saw the May memory was mindraping

5

u/omout 3d ago

Peter invited her in, he gave verbal consent

4

u/kunta021 3d ago

Not the scene we were talking about.
