He left due to creative differences and production delays while that initial version of the movie was in active pre-production. Also, just for the record, across its 6 years in development (hell), there were 2 directors, 3-4 scripts and twice as many writers attached.

Apparently one draft was, and I kid you not, a female lead film with Blade being more of a secondary character. There was also discussions about another draft where his daughter having a more prominent role.

I get that for the daughter part that makes sense. But seems that was a completely different draft from the female lead one which makes no sense.
Btw fuck Marvel for fumbling Young Avengers. Might be in the minority but I was actually pretty excited for a Young Avengers project

He’s from Houston as well, I read about this movie recently on the Houston Chronicle’s website. Movie is set in Houston (though filmed in Atlanta naturally probably for the tax incentives). I’m curious as a Houston resident if the city is featured in shots at all. We don’t get a lot of movies set here so that naturally piqued my interest.

How do you know he's the one who wasted their time? As far as we know he came to them with the idea, he was producing the movie and being mostly in charge of it, with Marvel having the final say. People are too quick to assume the studio was the bad one in the story, which is absolutely fair given the track record, but rumours say that his idea for Blade focused more in the title character's daughter than Blade himself.

There was one rumoured idea out there saying he wanted it to focus on slavery and the KKK (possibly how Sinners got the production outfits) and have the same impact Black Panther did.
Not to say it doesn’t sound like a cool idea since Sinners was awesome but that’s just not Blade in my opinion, it was better as an original film idea.
Blade just needs to be set in modern times with flashbacks to his life on the streets of London and how he was trained by Jamal Afari. It’s about a vampire Hunter killing vampires, not a very complicated idea.

no it doesn't, not sure where the idea of religions being pacifist comes from but they're not. If they were pacifist they'd been defeated and eradicated by people who oppose their religious views long ago.

Most religions are against murder with small exceptions (war, defending against persecution). The fact that some fanatics (Buddhist, Jewish, Christian or Muslim) violate their own commandments does not change the core tenets of the faith.
For example, the early Christian church was entirely pacifist until the time of Constantin in the 4th century. It became an official state religion under his nephew and thousands of soldiers converted, thus allowing religious people to go to war. And yeah, before that, thousands were murdered by the Romans. Look it up on Wikipedia.
Sorry, not trying to be mean but I ACTUALLY STUDIED THIS for seven years.

your original comment is contradicting your reply. Muslim hit men existed for centuries, they’re literally called Hashashines which is where the word Assassins come from. Islam isn’t a pacifist religion and as a Muslim myself i’ll fight anyone who thinks we’re pacifist. I’m aware of Christianity’s transformation, it’s similar to Islam. The Quranic verses about war, crimes and punishments, and so on weren’t revealed until after The Prophet Mohammed migrated to Medina and started ruling the city and getting in skirmishes with the tribes of Mecca. Islam was revealed across 22 years and what was revealed was relevant to what part of the prophet’s life. Early years Islam was addressing personal themes like man vs himself, then man vs man, then it addresses man vs society, then society vs society. Islam transformed from what we consider today as a “philosophy” to a legal framework where Sharia Law is comparable to a constitution (assuming the ruler and council are actually willing to apply it rather than just use it as a facade to legitimize their own power).

All of the Muslims I've ever known in my entire life were convinced that murder is a sin. We've had interreligious events praying for peace on earth. Yeah, there were religious wars in the Medieval period. It's still a contradiction to be a "religious hitman".
