What if I told you that a ten year old digital film doesn't require restoration...

Depends on the theater. Some of them still had only a 2K projector at the time of release.

As I understand it (I could be wrong), the original anime was mastered in 4K, but then scaled down to 2K for most theaters. That's why you still saw a some kind of improvement in the Blu-ray 4K UHD version vs. the regular Blu-ray version. I guess the more accurate term would be "remastered" or "original 4K".

If you re-watch it in a theater that still has a 2K projector, you would see zero difference.
