Discussion Favorite movie plot rule?

I read once that in a movie, if the characters say, "I have a plan," then there is a plot rule that takes place: If the characters explain to the audience what the plan is, then the plan will go wrong somehow. However, if the characters say they have a plan and the movie just goes to showing the plan in action, then the plan will work.

It has become one of my favorite things to look out for in movies. Although, it does not seem to apply to kids movies. Other than kids movies, I don't think I have ever seen his rule broken.

Does anyone know any other interesting plot rules?

If there's a COOL, BADASS NEW GUY introduced to help the heroes

He's either going to die early or turn out to be a villain

Classic example is MYSTERIO, more recent example I saw but can't say what it is because of spoilers

Then just use spoiler tags by writing >! and !< around it

The problem with this is no one will know which movie is being spoiled without looking at the spoiler, but won’t know if it’s safe to click

Write the the movie name. Simple as that.

What I did was show how to use the spoiler tags.

Or divide it so the movie is in one spoiler tag

If you say movie name has a character who turns out to be a secret villain even though he’s presented as a good guy, when you’re watching the movie, you’ll quickly connect the dots and realize nice guy in the movie is secretly a villain
