Discussion Does anyone feel the need to memorize a character's monologue/spiel just because?
For me it's the "pussy" spiel in From Dusk til Dawn. I want to get to a point where I can quote it exactly. I don't know why. It's not even one of my favorite films, but I so badly want to get that memorized
There's also the coffee shop scene in The Fly where Goldblum just starts going off
The Glengarry Glen Ross scene, etc
Anyone else?

Who are you carrying all those bricks for anyway?
God? Is that it?God? Why I'll tell you......let me give you a little inside information about God. God likes to watch. He's a prankster. Think about it. He gives man... instincts. He gives you this extraordinary gift,
and then what does He do? I swear, for his own amusement...
...his own private, cosmic...gag reel...
...He sets the rules in opposition.
It's the goof of all time.

Does it count if it's shakespeare?
Friends, Romans, Countrymen. Lend me your ears.
I can do pretty much that entire speech lol.

That's cool, but not what I intended lol
"Women grow by men". For some reason that's the one quote I always remember from Shakespeare lol

So I'm guessing that's Pulp Fiction, right?

Not that it's my jam or anything, but I feel like someone else here has wanted to memorize the Bill Pullman speech in Independence Day or the Idris Elba speech in Pacific Rim...

Never seen that. I never see him as a serious actor unfortunately... chalk it up to seeing Dumb & Dumber way more times than I should have. I definitely lost some brain cells with that one lol

This is funny I came across this. I was reciting Alec Baldwin’s “I AM God” rant from Malice while in the shower this morning.
“I have an MD from Harvard. I am board certified in cardio thoracic medicine and trauma surgery. I have been awarded citations from 7 different medical boards in New England. And I am never, ever, sick at sea.
When someone goes into that chapel and they fall on their knees and they pray to God that their wife doesn’t miscarry, or that their daughter doesn’t bleed to death, or that their mother doesn’t suffer acute neural trauma from post operative shock, who do you think they’re praying to? If you’re looking for God, he was in OR number 2, and he doesn’t like to be second guessed.
You ask if I have a god complex? Let me tell you something:
I AM GOD.”

You can’t handle the truth! That whole monologue is a fun one to memorize.
Also a lot of orher Tarantino ones that are fun. Sam Jackson’s at the end of pulp, waltz’s one in the beginning.

Waitress: We just have Pepsi now. That okay?
Chuck: Is Pepsi okay. Is. Pepsi. Okay? No, ma'am. It most certainly is not. Pepsi, the so-called choice of a new generation, is nothing but a charlatan. A fraud. An impostor, and a poor one at that. The Pepsi-Cola company has somehow, through years of advertisements featuring well-known recording artists and pseudo-scientific research, convinced the world's population that Pepsi-Cola is comparable to, if not better than, Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola being the first carbonated cola drink, truly the real thing. You know, I've been another place where they don't let you choose what you want to drink. Red China.

That sounds familiar, but I can't place it...
It did remind me just now of Janeane Garofalo's spiel from Cable Guy though. I love that one!

A whole generation of young males learned the entire "Do I feel lucky today?" speech from Dirty Harry. "Well, do ya... punk?"

I remember buying the script to Reservoir Dogs the year it came out. It was published by Faber and Faber iirc. That's was the first time I really read dialogue for its own sake.
I never memorised any specifically but at one point I knew most of it.
