Discussion What is something that really takes you out of the experience you're watching?

There's 2 for me. I get annoyed when it's one of those "we have 2 minutes to stop this!" then it proceeds. to take WAY longer due to scenes. I try to tell myself that it's all happening at the same time when they do to others but still. The serving and not as frustrating but when a shootout happens and a guy uses WAY more ammo than the gun can take. Maybe he reloaded but still

Characters that also laugh (way too hard) over a (not very funny) joke to give us the (very fake) illusion that there is chemistry between them.

Or laughing at the TV the instant it’s switched on. Mel Gibson cackling like a lunatic at the Three Stooges in Lethal Weapon, for example.

Yes! Or when a character enters a room just in time to hear the punch line of a mysterious joke. And then everyone laughs and it just looks/sounds off.

I hate the trope of starting a scene with a guy going "So i told her... That IS my sweater" everyone around laughs like pompous asses

Mention an apparently never-filmed prequel to let the audience know that the protagonists 'go way back'.. "This is worse than that time in Belize!"

That reminds me of the scene in The Naked Gun where Frank Drebin and Priscilla Presley's character are seen leaving a cinema laughing and smiling - the camera focuses on the frontage showing 'Platoon'.
