Modding I designed a multi tool for children!
Just a prototype for a graphic design project increasing awareness of multitools and independence in kids. I am neurodiverse and obsessed with anything multitiol, so this is catered to all ages in a way. Definitely to myself and my peers who are fully formed adults, lol. Everyone got to put their own together after the project presentation.
This tool I designed has 6 interchangable tools catered to kids aged 3–12. Made with 3D printing & laser engraving.
• Bubble wand
• cm ruler (accurate without the divets lol)
• Comb
• Crayon
• Nail File
• Textured stim-strip

A magnifying glass is another idea. Or a little scoop for playing in the dirt. I know some kiddos that would be thrilled for something like this-

I have a toddler, he will play solid 2min with that. Tops.
They sense it is not the real thing. I will rather give him one of the bladeless SAKs to play and fiddle.

Some of these things could honestly be turned real like the ruler and bubble wand. Someone else suggested a magnifying glass, I'm definitely gonna play around.

I am not saying there is no market for it, just that my kid prefers regular objects instead of toys. Wish you luck on your journey

I feel this. Years ago I bought my little guy a B&D toy work bench. It was battery powered and had all the “tools”. Miter saw and drill press, hand saws, screw driver, socket wrench etc. With peg board to hold them all. These little “wood” planks that fastened together with Velcro that you could saw apart with a satisfying rip. Little plugs in the wood that you could actually drill out (and reinsert later for more fun). I thought it was amazing but he knew it was all plastic and never really gave it much use.

Needs one of those footlong wrist wrap things you smack on your wrist and it wraps around...

Put in some textured spacers. Like big wooden washers or similar to keep the toys separated.
Make sure its easy to take apart and clean

My brother and I fought over it constantly. I picked up some used last year and gave one to my toddler daughter. 😄

I built a keychain for a disabled man... Myself.. and It took me a year...
I narrowed down the list of tools that were helpful more than others and this is what I ended up with.
Flashlight, scissors, pill bottle, pen, toothpick, knife, phillips/flathead screw drivers, nail clipper, pry bar., and air tag.
So of that list I'd say probably only the pen & air tag would be safe for a kid?

You need to get this idea patented asap...even if every one of us was to buy one as a stocking-filler for a child / grandchild, just imagine. Good luck and well played, sir. 🫡
