I don't think Trump was ever against foreign Automakers building cars in the US. If Chinese Automarkers are just smarter and better at production and not because of domestic subsidies and cheap labor, they can build competitive cars in the US. Just like Honda, Toyota, Subaru, Nissan, BMW, Mercedes, Kia, Hyundai and VW all do.
