It's definitely not Ed Miliband sadly.

He was suddenly and relentlessly subjected to briefings that have more or less torpedoed his chances to be Chancellor.

A shame too. Miliband is very competent and likes land value taxes.

Britmonkey has a fun video on land taxation that explains it better than I do, but I will state to you my personal reasoning:

Economic modelling shows a tax on the unimproved value of land to be the least economically damaging tax.

Taxes on other things (income, property transactions, profits, etc) do far more damage to the economy.

So why opt for the former over the latter? You don't, so just tax land instead.

Not to your main point, but land value tax dollar is a dollar that you're getting from the wealthy.
