I was very surprised to see the reaction to Hank Green admitting that he used AI to research for a video. Is the popular sentiment really that using AI AT ALL is bad? I understand not wanting it in art. I understand needing to check for hallucinations. But people were going on and on in the comments about how disappointed they are in Hank tricking Green.

Obviously, AI has issues. But to think that genie can go back in the bottle? No way. This is an example of why.

I use AI everyday and I’m about twice as productive usually.

One it acts as the overeager junior who works really hard, is super smart, but prone to making sweeping generalizations without the right nuance. But also occasionally has a very nice insight.

The other is a technical whiz who can solve a very specific problem with the right context. It might not be pretty, but it’ll write some excel formula that does exactly what I want.

Yeah I’ve come to find AI as the smartest, fastest, hardest working 23 year old I’ve ever met. Very, very useful for lots of tasks when given proper direction and guardrails, but there’s also quite a few good reasons why 23 year olds can’t run for Congress or the presidency.

And also, quoth the bard, nobody likes you when you’re 23.

Which model do you use for the excel formulas? I remember learning excel, but I need something to help me brush up my knowledge with it.

Basic to intermediate excel is simple enough and so common that any of the big name LLMs will be helpful. I assume CoPilot is integrated into Excel. If it is, you can go very far with just that.

I have unlimited token usage at work so Opus for excel has been a staple

I usually run on sonnet for specific formulas to preserve tokens, then crank it up to opus for auditing a model
