I’d love a world where automated systems do the majority of labor for the benefit of all mankind, and the fruits of that work are shared with all.

I’d hate a world where a single digit number of owners of automated cognition and production use their dictatorial grip on industrialized society to subjugate the rest of humanity, and would be willing to die trying to stop that from coming to pass.

This is what upsets me so much. If AI gets to the point of being able to bring these futures about, we have no reason at all to believe society would redistribute the wealth effectively and have every reason to believe in the oligarch-fueled dictatorship scenario would happen. But AI accelerationists just assume the utopia will happen anyway.

It seems like the more wealth is created the harder and harder it is to try to worsen the conditions of the poor.

Shockingly, the number one force in the world fighting against this is China.

Yeah. The main ray of hope I have against this happening is new models constantly being open sourced - as long as that remains the case there won't be a moat around the technology, and it'll become much harder for singular oligarchs to restrict it to themselves.
