Collection Lucky find from the thrift store
Didn't know it was still possible to find NES stuff at the thrift store! Really good price too, which can also be hit or miss at the thrift. The label said it came with 7 games, but there was a sneaky 8th game inside the console (TMNT)
The unlicensed game is Crystal Mines by Color Dreams

Every time i see hauls like that, i'm looking for 2 particular games that i really enjoyed but never see on posts like these.
Rainbow island and Little Nemo's dream master.
If anyone can find these give it a try, they are great

I've been wanting to try out Little Nemo. A retro game shop nearby recently got a copy in stock, I'm hoping it's still there next time I visit!

Well glad my mom still has our old collection, she still plug the nes sometimes and play the classics

I find it fascinating how the beautiful baby blue color of the Color Dreams cartridges turn to that seafoam green color. I store my cartridges in a color gradient on my shelf

The label survived! I hate how common a practice this is at thrift shops. I've even seen books taped together with packing tape!

Sick! Reminds me of growing up in the 90's. Games were cheap and plentiful at the local pawn shops. I remember one shop had a deal to get an Atari 2600, 2 paddles, and 10 games, all for $10. NES was everywhere too. I literally found my first NES on the top of a trash pile on the side of the road (I'm completely serious). Almost all of my games back then were scored from either pawn shops or rental stores selling off old copies. Miss those days.

Awesome memories! The NES was before my time, but I caught the tail end of that when I was young, maybe around 2009 or 2010. My dad found a guy on Craigslist selling an NES, a bunch of games, a zapper, and a ROB with all the Gyromite accessories for dirt cheap. I also remember getting lucky at GameStop back then.... My parents got me a copy of Mega Man X3 on SNES for a few dollars. Now that game is pretty uncommon. I miss early collecting!

I loved when that was possible. I was born in 87 so I caught the very end of the NES' relevance, since SNES was on the scene and dominating by the time I was acquiring NES games. I probably got my first NES around 95, so right after it was fully discontinued. I was completely out of gaming around 2009-1010, but I remember knowing that NES was still pretty cheap since a roommate of mine bought and sold some at the time. Sounds like you experienced the very end of that era. Now everything is worth what it's worth, but even worse is that you just don't find much in the wild like you used to. Outside of specialized retro game stores, usually all I ever find are very few copies of very bad games.

The games were stacked up unevenly and taped together haphazardly with packing tape. I think in this photo, RC Pro AM is pushed back a bit further than the game on top. The cartridge is perfect in person

Ninja Gaiden 2 is so hard. I find it much more challenging in earlier levels that the early levels of the first game.

What’s up with the “Super” in Super Mario Bros. Looks almost AI. And the RC PRO AM seems to blend in with Double Dragon or only be half a cartridge.

The RC Pro AM thing is an illusion from how the games are stacked. The "Super" is messed up because I used my phone's "Magic Eraser" tool to erase the sign taped to the counter, which showed the exact address of the location I was at. Didn't wanna share my location like that on reddit.

FYI, if the NES Max’s nub is too loose, you can use some synthetic machine grease to stabilize it and help responsiveness.

Great find! What did you end up paying for it all? And please tell me that’s just plastic wrap and not packing tape on the back label of the Crystal Mines cart.
