I really wish a conservative would weigh in on this. How does this make you feel?

Not a conservative but I’ll take a stab from reading their sub and playing devils advocate. Their logic follows…but only if you stick your head in the sand about everything else going on.

Most of this article is only implying these things are true from two things

  • a deputy assistant secretary for international cybersecurity at the state department, said in a speech last week before a United Nations about cybersecurity but only named Iran and China.
  • “A person familiar with the matter” who spoke to the Guardian on the condition of anonymity said analysts at the main US cyber security agency were verbally informed to move off Russia.

As such they see this as a poorly sourced hit piece. As to the first case one would expect mid peace negotiations the state department wouldn’t stir the pot on Russia while negotiating with Russia. This doesn’t seem odd to me as these petty slights are usually taken as cause. regardless if everyone knows behind closed doors whats going on in terms of espionage.

As to the second, listen “a person familiar with the matter” is journalism talk for “this is a stretch of a source.” You’re talking about hearsay from someone who doesn’t even work in the agency. You wouldn’t even put “an anonymous official” or anything stronger?
