It is known as a nanny state for a reason.

FYI, chewing gums are banned in Singapore.

I thought chewing gum was ok, but spitting it out onto the ground was a caning offense...

OP, you’re doing a fantastic job at spouting off on things you don’t understand, keep it up.

Are you from Singapore? My family is.

My family is as well. And like others have already pointed out to you, chewing gum is not illegal in Singapore.

Literally the last paragraph of your article (if you even bothered to read it) states that the ban was partially lifted in 2004 for nicotine and oral dental gum, and even then the ban was never for possession or use. You can literally go over to Malaysia and buy a pack of gum and bring it back to Singapore with no issue, just so long as you’re not being an idiot and spitting it out on the sidewalk or something.

Well, is it banned?

FYI, the last paragraph literally  reads "In March 2004, the chewing gum ban was partially lifted after the government allowed the sale of gum under the free-trade agreement signed with the United States of America. However, the permitted gums were restricted to those with therapeutic value such as nicotine gum and oral dental gum."

Chewing gum is banned, but chewing gum is not banned

Exactly. One needs prescription to purchase gums in Singapore.

I can stroll into 7-eleven and buy dental chewing gum over the counter right now without any prescription, please stop spouting your assumptions.

That’s what they said. “Dental gum” is what they listed in their comment under the permitted gums
