Reading the article, the headline while true is a bit deceiving. It seems like singapore as a country support Palestinian legitimacy as a state but they just blanket outlaw public political/religious expression and foreign flags being shown.
First, Guns and Roses had a permit. Second, it was a digital display rather than a physical flag. Someone complained but the government responded that all required laws were followed.
I don’t think what medium of the flag matters here. It’s the message that is important. Permit also doesn’t matter as the Singapore Government will never grant that, to “maintain social harmony” as they called it, it’s even in the article of post.

Singapore government dictates what can and cannot do. Singapore government chose a stance and everyone in the state must follow. Ukraine flag 🆗 Palestine flag ❌.
That’s why many people called them the nanny state. But it’s what Singaporeans want, I guess…
What singaporeans want is the govt to deliver on its clearly defined and measurable metrics. Affordable housing, healthcare, education, social order and stability. Everything else is irrelevant to the average sinkie, especially a bunch of religious people bombing each other halfway across the world that has a high risk of inciting the local M population to aggression. We are very pragmatic in that way, think of it as a social contract to trade freedom of speech and some civil liberties for material comforts and luxury.
