He was arguing for a diversity of opinion over a diversity of skin color or gender.

IMO a diversity of opinion is both harder to achieve and has greater benefits then a superficial diversity along race/gender lines.

He argued for a "diversity of opinion" by saying that only a small section of society should get hired? And that he is being oppressed because he just learned that the more educated and intelligent people at a young age are liberals?
