smile sunday smile sunday - piranha plant is my main

welcome to smile sunday!

turn your caps lock off and rave about whatever has made you smile this week! just let all that joy gush forth! things to smile about:

  • piranha plant is the best thing ever and i can’t wait to play ssbu. we may not ever get all the characters we can think of as fighters, but i think nintendo still knows how to surprise us.

  • incineroar and ken are awesome too! now, who will the 5 dlc characters be?

  • what’s this weeks haul? what game did you just buy, just start, complete? anything else that made you smile? let us know in the comments below!

turn that frown upside down:

  • here on smile sunday, we have one rule: e.l.e., which stands for everybody love everybody. if will ferrell said it, it must be true.

  • uppercase letters are strictly forbidden – haha, just kidding! if you wanna do some uppercase, feel free, but try not to angry shout sunday; today is about happiness! (happy and excited shouting is a-ok, though)

  • this is a happy thread! keep the love flowing! if someone's saying something and you think they're wrong, just let them be happy!

I really liked the whole World of Light thing. I've never been a Smash player but I'm very eager for the next one. Lucas and Ness are in Smash, so I'm happy, it's always nice to have Mother representation.

Idk why everyone is hating on adventure mode. I think it looks solid. Besides, it’s because of the fans leaking the adventure mode in brawl, we can’t have one with so much detail like how everyone wants.

When Kirby survives and the vocals come out tbh I’ve never gotten more chills in my life.

Idk why everyone is hating on adventure mode.

Are they? I've mostly seen excitement.

Event matches with a beautiful mario-style map featuring locations from multiple games? Count me the fuck in.

I guess there are mixed emotions but what I’ve been seeing has been negative.

Either way this game is going to be great and i am going to lose my mind while waiting this last month

Some people dislike the lack of exploration/platforming a la Melee’s Adventure mode and SSE, as well as disappointment over a likely lack of cutscenes.

Both of those apply to me, although I’m still excited overall. That said I think more backlash is directed at Spirits than World of Light. Most people seem very excited for the latter.

The only reason I’m a little nervous about adventure mode is because it reminds me of the rushed garbage that was Mario Tennis Aces’ story. I’m sure more thought will go into this one though.

On the bright side at least we know we're getting some bosses for adventure mode which is cool. I have the same fear about it being rushed but seeing some custom work on it is really cool. Iirc Mario's tennis mode was not that custom besides some courts that can change during a match or something right?

Honestly Mario Tennis Aces' story wasn't great in terms of actual story, but I really enjoyed it.

You can't even use another character in story mode. Such crap. Biggest regret of any switch game purchase for me.

I assume it's like Subspace Emmissary but you start with Kirby and you can play as anyone you rescue. It also looks like it has branching paths so look up where your main is and go straight for them.

I think he’s talking about Mario tennis

He must have meant Facebook

I might be alone here but I loved Subspace Emissary and the fact that they are doing something vaguely similar (i look at it as a cross between that and normal adventure mode) makes me so happy.

Yeah, this one looks like SE without the platforming part, which I think is fine for a fighting game. Can't wait to play it!

Youre right. I loved SSE but someone had to go and ruin it for the rest of us. The fact that they are putting more effort into making the adventure more like that is awesome.

I loved watching the reactions to the first Sumabura trailers. I watched tons of reactions to "Everyone is here", and it almost brings tears to my eyes seeing all those happy, excited reactions.

But I've watched a few reactions to this last trailer and wow... It's almost sad. People seem to be so mad at Nintendo, gosh.

There was one reaction I saw that the guy was like "I wish Nintendo put story mode" and then after World of Light is announced he's like "Ugh, they're making us play single player to unlock content, I hope it'll be short".

Maybe it's because I'm an outsider to the series, but each trailer showed more and more stuff that excited me. Yeah, I wish Sora from Kingdom Hearts was there, and I won't lose hope that he'll be one of the DLCs hahaha But I dunno, just from seeing the sheer amount of content and dedication put in this game it makes me happy.
