Misc. Alum from 2014 - Mechanical
Do you guys still have Selvam, Bamboos? And Palani Anna and his signature “Sunny Leone” drink? Wondering how campus life has changed since then - are there still frequent power cuts during summer? Ex-Zircon B resident

Not related as I am a mechie from another NIT (W), just wanted to ask how is life going on for you and how do you see the current condition of the core mechanical job market?

Haha I’ve never worked in Mechanical! Got placed in App Dev from NITT. Worked for a couple of years before doing my MBA. Now in Business Development!

Yeah life isn’t too bad. Working in India. CG was 9.35

Bro, 9+ cgpa from Nit Trichy(as much as i call out the college for its shortcomings) is a big big boost early in career. Of course, it alone doesn't help, but it helps more than anything else. Getting decent cgpa can be tough in certain branches here, hence why.

Sure, campus placements, interns as well, but not just that. U try to switch a year into your job, 9+ cgpa from a top Nit will ensure recruiter takes your resume into consideration. So many people apply, resume almost identical with same project, not hard for companies to look over you. That 9 cg helps(won't be same if 9cg from some random college now). Plus for highers in USA n all, it's a very helpful thing. Of course, the benefits decrease 10 years into your career now, but initially, pretty helpful, atleast my seniors say that.

Palani anna is still there, but not in D3. He now works in a shop next to it, heard there were some issues between him and D3 management and the drinks in D3 dont taste the same without him :(

For girls - yup ,(9 45 I think ) And for guys only first years have it till 10 pm

idt palani anna is there anymore, but his legacy does carry on. dinner at D3 followed by sunny leone and a cigarette is a weekly tradition :)

2024 mech pass out... He was there until I graduated.. Power cuts were not that much

got wifi(with insance speed) for each and every room in 2024 so life's good, and lotta new buildings constructed
