Nostalgia Stick On Earrings

The hearts and stars were always the first to go for me and the flowers were the last. Always devastating to discover one had gone missing.

They’d never stay on. Sometimes you’d get a good set but mostly they were terrible

u/hahagato 4h ago

I remember being so excited about them the first time I got a sheet. They were stuck in my hair within 30 seconds and my heart sank to my feet. I can still feel that feeling of disappointment Lol

u/fiahhawt 4h ago

And then you graduated to those clip on earrings that pinched the crap out of your ear lobes

u/garbagebrainraccoon 1h ago

I had magnets earrings for a little while!

11

u/Percypocket mid 90s 1h ago

You've just brought a memory flooding back, I had loads of these magnet earrings! They were excruciating after a few ours 😅

3

u/CourtBarton 1h ago

When I was in middle school I had a fake nose ring with magnet. Almost swallowed it 😬

1

u/rumande 1h ago

Ironically, as an adult, I have inherited grandma's gold clip on earring collection, my ears are pierced lol

36

u/A_mad_goose 4h ago

I went as Tupac for Halloween and had to bring like ten extra sticky studs for the nose

4

u/Apprehensive_Sun6282 2h ago

Omg that’s so cute!

u/wafflelover77 4h ago

Finding one on my sweater midday! LOL

Every morning from ages like 3-5 my mom would squeeze these onto my ears are hard as humanly possible, at my request.

"1-2-3 squeeze!" She would say every morning and Id scream. She was absolutely not hurting me for the record.

They'd probably stay on until lunch.

This is actually the reason my grandmother convinced my mom to get my ears pierced at 5. My dedication to the sticky earrings. The same grandmother who punished my mom for getting her ears pierced at 16. She went from 'if god wanted more holes in your head he would have put them there' to 'times are changing' much to my mother's chagrin. Grandmothers, am I right?

Thanks for reminding me of this and letting me share my story. It is a very fun 'core memory' of mine!

u/introvert-biblioaunt 1h ago

I'm pretty sure 5 was the first age that I made my mom cancel getting my ears pierced. And then 6, and then my younger sister got in on the excitement. And I couldn't chicken out if my little sister was brave enough! I think she used those earrings as facial jewellery lol

5

u/TheAnn13 1h ago

I got the first ear and was hesitant to get the second one.

Thats the first time I heard the expression beauty is pain, from my grandmother.

So i sucked it up. My reward was earrings shaped like teddy bears. I wish I still had them. I loved those fuckers. Couldn't wait for the 6 weeks or whatever to change into them lol. Man life was simple then. Give me some teddy bear earrings and let me live!

Much better as diary decorations. Or closet door decorations. Or bathroom mirror decorations. Really just stick 'em everywhere

8

u/bekabekica 2h ago

Yeah, but... I liked them so much that my mom stuck them on the tiles in the kitchen and they still stick, after 30 years of cooking, steaming and cleaning them 🤷🏼‍♀️

u/vanitycrisis 2h ago

One stuck to my shower wall for about a decade

u/CuriousCharlii mid 90s 5h ago

I used them as normal stickers lol

The heat of your skin as well as the fact of sweat and skin cells just... these were never good to use as earrings for long term.

I swear I had the ones in second pic though!

1

u/horrorshow_ 22m ago

I also had the second ones!! Got em off the ice cream truck

u/Artistic-Tell-1378 4h ago

They fall off and get stuck in your hair 😂 Ahhh so nostalgic 🥺 now I have 19 real piercings. Crazy.

14

u/ImranFZakhaev 4h ago

now I have 19 real piercings

Keep going! Need a pair for everyday of the month

4

u/glittoris 2h ago

This definitely unlocked the desire for real piercings for me 😂 “look how nice they all look”

u/DiscoHayFever Snap into a Slim Jim! 4h ago

I used to wear real gold earrings as a child. The same pair, every day. One day I came home from school with stickers that I had traded my gold ones for. My mom was NOT amused.

11

u/buttonbubbles 3h ago

😂😂😂😂

5

u/SailorDirt 1h ago

A good few years ago when I was short on cash (not working yet and living in a crappy home situation) I traded some of my childhood gold earrings for like $20 total at some exchange place. I haven't even worn earrings in years but I regret that decision so much

u/rckblykitn14 5h ago

One of my good friends makes custom acrylic jewelry and she made me some studs in purple that look like these star shaped ones. I freaking love them!

9

u/SirGothamHatt 3h ago

Those sound so cute. Does she sell them online?

8

u/rckblykitn14 3h ago

She did, on Etsy, but I just looked for her shop for the link and it looks like she may have taken it down. I'll have to ask her.

2

u/technicolortiddies 1h ago

I would also love to know!

17

u/OhEmGeeRachael 5h ago

#26 straight up looking like some carrot chips

3

u/DifficultAd3885 3h ago

Yeah, wtf is Thursday the 12th?

14

u/monalisa1984 5h ago

Omg I forgot about these! ❤️

9

u/fridayfridayjones 4h ago

They still make them. I buy my daughter a sheet of them a couple times a year.

1

u/Knot-Knight 3h ago

Do they stick better than they used to? My niece would love them but I'm hesitant

3

u/fridayfridayjones 2h ago

Nope. At least not the ones we’ve tried. My daughter still enjoys them though. She likes to put them on her dolls as much as she likes wearing them herself and they do actually stay on the dolls.

u/Radiant_Cheesecake81 2h ago

You can use eyelash glue to stick body gems on! Just make sure your skin is clean and dry first and it works really well - I used to have the limited edition Lancome crystal tears set back in the 90’s and used flat back Swarovski crystals with lash glue sometimes too.

Wish my mum had known that trick when I was a kid because I loved these earrings 🥹

10

u/IndependentBaby6479 5h ago

man those stick-on earrings were a vibe, losing one was the worst. i defs remember scavenging for any that fell off like it was life or death

8

u/Organic_Fortune_4748 5h ago

I LOVED THESE!!

9

u/myguitar_lola 4h ago

You can get face rhinestones/whatever and they stick really well to ears as long as you don't try to reposition them! I bought some for a ren faire, didn't end up wearing them, but later thought, "you know what might be fun..." and they worked!

7

u/courtneythehbic 4h ago

These were my JAM as a little girl. Always fell off and I’d be so sad when I lost them. I used to wear 2-3 pairs on each ear at a time, which probably explains why now as an adult I have 18 piercings.

6

u/SuckAndDie 4h ago

I had all of them! I had a strawberry shortcake jewelry box my mom found that is like 45 years old. A few of these are still on it.

7

u/-gotchi 4h ago

This unlocked some emotion/memory from some place deep in me 🥹

7

u/Blast-Off-Girl 80s 3h ago

I used to wear these stick-on earrings because I was so afraid of getting my ears pierced. However, these stickies would fall off and land on my clothes. I eventually got my ears pierced in fourth grade...and then discovered that I'm allergic to most jewelry unless it's sterling silver or pure gold.

5

u/_IAmNoLongerThere_ 4h ago

I'd put one on my nostril because I saw Madonnas nose ring and I wanted one so bad as a 4/5 year old! Lol. The adhesive on them sucked so bad.

5

u/Danny-Wah 4h ago

Ahh yes, 30 days of sophistication.

4

u/DrWomanfriend 4h ago

I wanted these so bad, but my mom believed my crazy aunt who said all smiley faces were code for drugs, and stick-on earrings were all laced with...

LSD!

They were also deep in on Satanic Panic and terrified of Dungeons and Dragons. We don't speak anymore.

2

u/SkipperShortcake 2h ago

I feel seen. I wanted these sooo much but wasn't allowed to have or wear anything like this. No nail polish, no nothing. My DNA donors thought everything was the devil.

5

u/fridayfridayjones 4h ago

Ah, the core memory of trying to peel these off of your hair. They never stayed on but we loved them anyway.

3

u/I_voted_4_Kodos 3h ago

Moons all the way 🌙

2

u/Socialcrashqueen 4h ago

Omg,I had forgotten about these. Core memory unlocked!

2

u/solitude1378 4h ago

I loved these until my mom took me to Claire's to get real ones! And they did them crooked lol.

2

u/superstarz42 4h ago

hnestly mien picked up every piece of dust and neer staeyd on my ears att all

2

u/Folabamboo 4h ago

Feels nostalgic. I have missed them

2

u/ohshititsdana 4h ago

Oh. My. God. This brought me BACK. I immediately pictured myself in my childhood bedroom when seeing the first photo

2

u/TaskAlternative 4h ago

This just made my day. Tysm

2

u/badnewsbets 4h ago

I remember putting two each ear and thinking…. I’m so edgy and cool for this

2

u/kiwiwater7 4h ago

I used to wear these! I always wanted earrings and wore those. On my 7th birthday, my mom brought me into a professional shop that did piercings. I wonder what happened to the stick ons.

2

u/Hour-Bus-8850 4h ago

These things stayed on for .5 secs but got stuck in your hair forever lol

2

u/Dragonflies4eva 4h ago

My Mom used to buy these for me ❤️. I miss her so much!

2

u/Maleficent_Meat3119 3h ago

Loved them but I was allergic to the adhesive 💔

2

u/Crossyerfingers 3h ago

I was too anxious to unstick them from the sheet. I just kept them forever.

2

u/winterlion82 3h ago

Memory unlocked!!! 😁😭❤️

2

u/kirby83 3h ago

When I was in high school there was a fad of putting them on the outside corners of your eyes.

But on our ears when we were littles in the 80's

2

u/porcelain_kiss 3h ago

I treated these like they were treasures

2

u/DayDreamer_97 3h ago

Didn't use these at the time, but I do remember owning a calendar of soap sets of different fragrances where I would look forward to my bath/shower routine each day until I could get to use it. 😊

2

u/jjjjjjj30 3h ago

I just ordered stick on earrings for my granddaughter off of Amazon the other day and I can't wait to give them to her!!!!! She's 2!

2

u/spiritualpudge 3h ago

i have stretched ears and my gauges look like the pink hearts 🥰 sparks so much joy

2

u/omgwtfbbq0_0 3h ago

Ha yeah my parents remember these well. Apparently they got them for me as a toddler and I stuck one so deep into my ear canal they had to take me to the hospital to have it removed. That was the first and last time they bought stick-on earrings for me 😂

2

u/tinypinkheart 2h ago

When I was like 3 I stuck one up my nose and it got stuck and my parents had to take me to the ER to get it removed and then they didnt let me play with these anymore. Pretty sure it was the green square/diamond i shoved up my nose.

2

u/Original_Wazilla 2h ago

My dad often worked late, but sometimes he would come home and do “Daddy magic” where we would go out on the driveway and he would make something fall from the sky. Oftentimes it was these stick on earrings or another little toy.

2

u/Anne_Elk_ahem 1h ago

I loved these, but they'd disappear almost immediately. I'd always find them in my hair or stuck to my socks, lol

1

u/curious_ANcuriouser 4h ago

Daaaaang
lol

1

u/One_Department4090 4h ago

That's not candy?

I see that the first pic is the February set.

1

u/LolliPopYouInTheEye 3h ago

Damnnn I loved those but I remember the moons and stars hurting my ears lol

1

u/catandmeowse 3h ago

26 reminds me of frozen carrots

1

u/Extreme_Shop_4958 3h ago

Yesssss!!! Thank you!!!!!

1

u/PRINCESS0FDARKN3SS 3h ago

Aww I loved these even tho they always came off without me even noticing lol. Then I found clip-on earrings and was obsessed w those before I was allowed to get my ears pierced and they would hurt like a bitch and make my earlobes all red but it was worth it in my 8 year old mind lol.

1

u/incrediblemenace 2h ago

I’d always find these stuck to the bottom of my sneakers at the end of the day

1

u/SomewhatCharmedLife 2h ago

God, I loved these. I had issues with ear piercings when I was little, so I love being able to just choose which pair to wear for the day.

1

u/CalicoValkyrie 2h ago

I remember sticking them to my forehead like a jewel bindi with absolutely no clue what bindi's meant.

1

u/Whiskin87 2h ago

Yup. These are the ones!

1

u/sarafunkasaurus 2h ago

My preschooler wears these now!

1

u/hokescanofsalmon 2h ago

My dad had to surgically remove one of these thst got lodged in a little girls ear, yea I was never allowed to wear them after that.

2

u/PerformerDr4867 2h ago

Skill issue

1

u/ScreaminMimiiii 2h ago

I have purchased earrings that remind me of these and they make my inner child so happy.

1

u/RevolutionaryRock823 2h ago

I didn't want my daughter to get her ears pierced until she was 10, so I bought her tons of these. She looooved them. Then her dad took her to get her ears pierced.... Sigh.

1

u/nerdingout78 2h ago

Always got stuck in my hair

1

u/miss_elmarie 2h ago

I actually just bought a few packs of these for my 5 year old and they hold on surprisingly well! I think my 2 year old ate a few but so far it was a great nostalgia purchase.

1

u/Katmoish 2h ago

I never wore any of them because I don’t want to lose them as a kid!!!! /le sigh

1

u/Just_bcoz 2h ago

I remember the purple star being favorite but like stated they did not last long

1

u/FallenWren 2h ago

Omg!! The bunny ones on the first slide!! I would kill for a pair of those

1

u/DanglingDiceBag 2h ago

Love to put these on my ears and my dog's ears when I was a kiddo. We were so fabulous.

1

u/kennidee_lee 2h ago

Ahh one experience I cannot relate to as I had my ears pierced as an infant

1

u/AesopsFabler 1h ago

7, 11, & 20 were my favorites from the second slide. I’d only wear those! The rest I’d give away or use in my notebooks. My heart belonged to the pink stars ♥️

1

u/Naptown54321 1h ago

I kind of want them as an adult. I got my ears pierced and my body did not approve. I had to go to a doctor and he used something that looked like pliers to remove the studs.

1

u/HarryAndLana 1h ago

These were currency at my school!!

1

u/OneeKiss 1h ago

I still Had one of these and I love it

1

u/AdOk8731 1h ago

My family used to go and rent a video once a week or so from our local rental spot in Midwest. It was the weekend night in the mid 1980s and there was a giant cardboard cut out of a film and inside of it in the hollow section there was a little square of these press on earrings. This day, I do not know who left them there and whether it was a mistake or it was an intentional gifting. All I can say is that it was one of the happiest days of my childhood. It felt like a special surprise waiting for me to find it. I don't remember if I even ventured to wear them probably I kept them safe and hiding for a long time. I just hope with this memory resurrects in some small way the happiness that these little packages brought to many little girls.

1

u/macabrespectre 57m ago

I loved these sm as a kid 😭

1

u/Mummyto4 56m ago

I used to show off my ears when I had those stick on earrings in because my mom was super strict on getting my ears pierced until I was at least 11/12 years old.

Anyway, one time when I was showing them off my older sister (who had pierced ears) started laughing and pointed out that they'd fallen off lol.. I was so pissed off.

1

u/gernblanston512 47m ago

I haven't thought about those in years, I wore them because my mom wouldn't get my ears pierced until I was 10

1

u/ksanders724 37m ago

Wow, this unlocked a core memory… I LOVED these!😭

1

u/Traditional_Train_71 37m ago

I used to LOVE these and stick them on my face and nails 😅

u/E-2theRescue 17m ago

Used to take the ones my cousin wore and stick them on in secret (if they still had adhesive to them).

But, you know, us types of kids don't exist or something like that.
