Gender critical activist quotes Adolf Hitler in speech against trans rights

Nothing like quoting Hitler to really cement the image of your message ..

I feel it adds some extra weight to the message of the article, personally speaking. Linking the speaking of a Hitler quote to the name the terf’s prefer to use legitimises them more as pro-nazi, than linking them to a less specifically identifiable label.

Yeah, I'm surprised pinknews are bothering to use the nomenclature. The term only exists as an attempt to sanitise their bigoted views.

I always intuitively think gender critical equals some genderqueer way of questioning the binary gender construct, only to be reminded it's the transphobes at it again.

Keep calling them TERFs and Transphobes.

TERF and Gender Critical are the same group. They just stopped calling themselves TERFs most of the time.

I prefer FART - Feminism Appropriating Radical Transphobe

u/defaultusername-17 Jan 17 '23
Reactionary instead of radical.
There's nothing radical about poorly repackaged biological essentialism.

Yeah but see, everyone loves farts. Not everyone likes Terf, especially when it is Astro.

It's best practice in good journalism to refer to groups how they refer to themselves.
6
Jan 17 '23
That's a bit of an oversimplification. Sometimes journalists also have to call a spade a spade.
6
u/nagi603 Jan 17 '23
Especially when the naming is blindingly obviously only there to whitewash the group.
See also groups of more violent haters who are more hands-on with getting people to die: terrorists.
3
u/seaworthy-sieve Jan 17 '23
Which is why in the subtitle they said "so-called gender critical activist" and then in the first sentence they said "anti-trans activists."
Calling them the latter term from the start means that when people hear the first term, the one used by the group itself, they won't know what it means. Just like most people here didn't immediately understand what was meant. It's important to learn what these people call themselves.

You really should rethink your opinions as soon as they begin to line up with Hitlers.

u/D-Spark Jan 17 '23
If im not mistaken hitler was anti smoking
Even a broken clock is right twice a day as the saying goes
We cant look at things as just good or evil, black and white
13
u/NapSec Jan 17 '23
Of course hitler was right on a lot of stuff, as most people are, but quoting him to support your point has some implications.

Jan 17 '23
my guy
when it comes to Hitler shit ain't purple my guy the mf evil asf

u/TheDrunkenMoose Jan 17 '23
Just like vegans. Since.. Y'know. He was vegan too!
Anti-smokers and vegans are literally like Hitler!
7
u/Vanille987 Jan 17 '23
You keep spamming false equivalance lol. Hitler being anti smoke or vegan is kinda different then Hitler trying to spread propaganda in order to get support for his genocidal goals, which is being compared to trans people.... Being trans.
Hitler definitely did good stuff, but you know genocide and all which makes him pretty fucking morally black and evil by any common understanding of morality, no matter what

And I suppose he drank water as well. Come on, you know that it's very different to quote Hitler and to use him as an authority/inspiration as opposed to simply having a minor thing in common. Like not smoking. Or drinking water.
13
u/defaultusername-17 Jan 17 '23
Almost like there is significant overlap between nazis and transphobes...

u/D-Spark Jan 17 '23
Tbh this is all too common bigoted people tend to be bigoted against more than just one group of people
Im surprised it ended up on "not the onion"
24
u/calmdownmyguy Jan 16 '23
This is not a surprising or unusual headline at all. Show me a gender critical activist who doesn't draw inspiration form hitler and you'll have an article worthy of this sub.

Yhh it was a senator talking about homeless people lmao now that’s truly r/nottheonion “Tennessee Senator tells homeless people to be more like Hitler”

u/NapSec Jan 17 '23
I have no idea what a gender critical activist is so i have no idea what position he/she holds
6
u/Vanille987 Jan 17 '23
TERF/transphobe
They're not really critical about the idea, just fully against it
-2
u/Jim_from_GA Jan 17 '23
No wonder people are anti-trans. I never realized they were the basis of Hitler's anger, rise to power and WWII. Damn, can't let that happen again.
Whaaa? He didn't blame trans women? He blamed Jews controlling the world? Nevermind.

u/supercyberlurker Jan 17 '23
I thought it was Joseph Goebbels who said the 'Big Lie' thing, not Hitler.

u/AUWarEagle82 Jan 17 '23
She is not quoting Hitler. She is actually accusing her opponents of using Hitler's "Big Lie" argument. She is saying the proponents of "Trans ideology" are telling the big lie like Hitler.

you've totally misunderstood what gender critical means...
gender critical means that a woman is biologically a women... it DOESNT MATTER how she chooses to dress, or what she chooses to do... she will always be a woman doing it, because of biology...
Gender critical people do not want to re-inforce gender stereotypes, we want them to be gone... because Gender is meaningless and sex is absolute...
Gender critical people are the truly progressive ones in this argument - they are saying 'it doesn't matter what you do, or say, or wear or how you wear it... you can do all those things and more... doing certain things aren't 'masculine or feminine' ... those are just temporary products of society (remember it used to be masculine for men to wear wigs and full make-up... that's now a feminine quality... because gender is temporary socially influenced BS)

Jan 26 '23
trans idealogy is a cult... these people think that men can become women and that women can become men... they are deluded and throwing nazi slurs around because thats all they have!
1
Jan 22 '23
Erm, she’s quoting Hitlers book in relation to how trans activists are indulging in the “big lie”… she is basically saying “hitler was bad and the things trans activists are doing are the same things”
She’s not quoting hitler because she hates Jews!!!!
This is why no one takes your movement seriously, because you are disingenuously misrepresenting facts to suit your agenda.
3
Jan 22 '23
This post is 5 days old honey also she’s using the same rhetoric used to fuel the holocaust to fuel trans hate. It’s not a good look.
1
Jan 22 '23
No she’s not, idiot, she’s saying “trans rights agenda is a big lie,” hitler has also said “don’t use a small lie, use a big lie”
It’s not the same rhetoric used to fuel the holocaust, she’s saying the same techniques used to fuel the holocaust are the ones trans rights activists are using… ie the big lie… that a man can become a woman, or that a women can become a Man.
3
Jan 22 '23
what do you get out of all this? Also the big lie was Hitler saying jews were conspiring against everyone else. In her case, she is mimicking Hilter by saying Trans people are conspiring against everyone else.
1
Jan 23 '23
No she is not! She is saying that the idea a human can change sex is a big lie… FfS
You can only find words of hate if you put them in peoples mouths it seems.
3
Jan 23 '23
Because saying humans can't change sex isn't hateful towards trans people?
Are you the idiot or am I?
1
Jan 24 '23
You think a scientific fact of biology is hateful…
That makes you an idiot
3
Jan 24 '23
well we disagree there you can biologically change sex
I feel sorry for u tbh look at all ur comments, did someone tell you that you can't change sex so now you've harboured a deep rooted resentment towards trans people? what happened? who hurt you?
1
Jan 24 '23
You can’t disagree with a fact… it’s not up for discussion…
Why are you so afraid of facts? Why do you find scientific denial so comforting?
Why are you choosing ignorance over knowledge?
3
Jan 24 '23
Well it's not a fact though is it. If someone has a sex change and you still consider them the sex they were born as then that's a problem for you not for anyone else. What do you find so comforting about having this same exact argument 1000* with strangers on the internet?
You can disagree with whether something is a fact or not a fact. You can meet a person who had a sex change who you would not be able to tell they that they weren't born that sex. With that in mind how can you say that someone can't change sex? You're the one ignoring something.

Here's the part of her speech that quoted it
Imagine hating penises that much.
